How does it work?
We use a central NTCIP
derived database to represent the schedules. Because of this,
we can use data from a variety of transit systems. For
example, Portland Tri-Met in Portland, Oregon has given us
access to their September 2000 scheduling information. This
allows us to run a demonstration MyBus server for
Portland which shows the results of our research using the TCP
standard definitions.
The demo rotates through upcoming scheduled departures for
each timepoint location. Since no connection has been made to
Portland's real-time vehicle location system, however, we
cannot provide information on predicted and actual departure
times, as we do for King County. If you are interested in
real-time transit information for the Portland area, please
see Portland
Tri-Met's web site.
Here's an article that explains the Mybus prediction algorithm.
